Woodcarvers Festival 2009

The Third Annual Woodworking Wonders Weekend will be held on the Town Square in Port Allegany, PA.

June 19 , Friday      –      5:00 pm to 9:00 pm
June 20, Saturday  –    10:00 am to 4:00 pm


Highly skilled craftsmen, craftswomen and artists showcase their original designs and one of kind pieces in hand carved wood at this
outdoor festival.  All of these creations are made in the USA. Antique tools in action, classic Holgate wood toys and exquisite art pieces
will be on display. Free hourly demonstrations of carving for the beginner.

Friday evening:
Private instructional lectures for the advanced enthusiast with additional registration (limited class size) featuring professional
carver, Debbie Barr. Call 814-642-2295.

Free Friday evening concert at the Gazebo, bring chairs or a blanket.

Saturday:
Heritage crafts presented by specialists. Pennsylvania's Woodmobile, Woodsy Owl and Smokey Bear appearing. Lumber history tour            by horse and wagon. All day music provided by handmade dulcimers and crafted guitars. Carved wildlife to furniture to kitchenware to      jewelry available for purchase for unique gifts. Discuss custom designs and wood art with the experts.

Refreshments and lunch available evening & day.

Portville Library's Youth Yard Sale

Portville Library's Youth Yard Sale will be held Friday, May 29th 9 am – 3 pm and Saturday, May 30th 9 am to noon. The library is located at 2 North Main Street.

A large variety of gently used items have been donated by members of the Friends of the Library, staff members, Junior Friends and patrons to help support our children's programs. Household items, toys, and garage knickknacks can be found among the collection of interesting items. The children's department greatly appreciates everyone's charitable contributions.

Proceeds from this event cover the entire cost of our summer reading program, reading incentives throughout the school year and craft supplies for our Friday morning story hour.

We are still receiving donations during regular library hours. No clothing or large appliances please. If additional information is needed, please contact the library by calling (716) 933-8441.
